What to expect at Texas Nights

Texas Nights North
typically books acoustic singer/songwriter acts. We only put on about 10 shows
a year, so it's understandably difficult to book a show with us. Your best bet
is for us to catch one of your performances and for us to really like it! If
you wish to send a demo CD you may but we cannot guarantee that we can respond
or that it will help you book with us. All that said, don't be discouraged. We
are constantly striving to introduce our audience to new and wonderful talent.
Folks who have opened have a good chance of headlining a future show.
We sell out at
50. We typically over reserve to compensate for no-shows and
have had audiences larger than 60.
We typically ask
$15.00 per person donation. 100% of the donation goes to the headliner. Openers
play for free and can sell CD's. We cannot guarantee a minimum but our turnouts
have been very good.
CD sales are
usually good. More than 50% of the audience buying a CD is not uncommon.
We prefer to
book Saturday nights near the middle of the month. We have occasionally done a
Sunday afternoon show.
We like to book
openers from local unknown talent but are open for opener suggestions.
We are very unstructured and can accommodate different show
structures, A typical show is:

1st
Set 8:00 – 8:45
2nd Set
9:15 - When you want to quit!
Traveling
Artists are welcome to stay at the house in order to save on lodging expenses.
Equipment
Being a music
and audio guy since my college days I take pride in the quality of our sound.
We use a P.A. because the artists tell us they like it, and it gives the
audience more of a concert feel. We can accommodate most any stage requirement.
We have enough equipment to handle a group much bigger than our space will
permit! We are also available to sound
engineer your other local gigs of up to 1000

Recording
At Texas Nights
North, we were advised by legal friends of ours to archive recordings of our
shows. We typically record all shows on minidisk or ADAT. We’d be more than happy to provide you with a
copy of the recording if you are interested.
We absolutely will not share the recordings without permission from
you. We have had artists ask us to send
a copy of the show to everyone in attendance.
